there is no such thing as bellydancing in any MENA culture. the closest thing to it is raqs sharqi, which is Egyptian, and the outfits are nothing like what media perceives it as.

bellydancing was created by the western world. it's not MENA

raq sharqi was used entertain white people who were colonizing Middle Eastern countries in nightclubs. Raqs sharqi was culturally appropriated and sexualized by white people

ur idea of bellydancing is probs like, really revealing outfits or the "jasmine" clothes. but MENA countries, even before Islam, did not wear clothes that revealing. they were modest even before Islam.

and therefore the DNC class, is racist. it perpetuates a stereotype and normalizes cultural appropriate and i could literally spend all day talking about how FFXIV has done some really racist shit against indigenous people too
