Reading an absolutely terrible Templar book for a project on Templar pseudo-histories. The preface alone claims that while the reason for Robert Bruce's excommunication 'may be well known', he couldn't find a clear one. Isn't knifing a rival in a church pretty clear?
The book is written by an American astronomer Artificial Angus lawyer who believes that the Templars were definitely at Bannockburn because his friend says so.
Apparently it's very odd that there's no concrete historical material on the Templars in Scotland after 1314. He reaches for conspiracy and myth, rather than the obvious conclusion: maybe the historians are right, and the Templar order did not exist after 1312?
I can't wait until I get to the 'statistical analysis' that he uses to prove the Templars were at Bannockburn. I know History Press' output is highly variable, having published both decent and not so decent stuff, but this really is pisspoor.
