I've seen a lot of people talk about how Techno's syndicate is basically a government and he's a hypocrite and I just thought I'd clear that up a bit and establish some things
It's not hypocrisy because a government and a syndicate are very different things and you can even see it from the few rules Techno has set out.
- No leader
A government has a set leader who gets a final say on all the decisions with influence from those within the cabinet. This
allows things like dictatorships to rise and is a position that has power that can often be abused. Techno has essentially created a secret club almost or, in DnD terms, a guild. There is no set leader, therefore everyone within the syndicate is on equal grounds and has
an equal amount of power. A government has a structure in which there is a scale of power. In the syndicate, no one has more power than the other and therefore no one can abuse their power. There is a sense of unity. Just some people banding together down to common interests.
- No one has to act or do anything they don't want to.
I believe this is the most important rule and shows the differences between the government of L'manburg and the syndicate. There is no pressure to commit actions that one doesn't feel comfortable with and agree on. How many
times did Tubbo have to do things that he didn't feel comfortable with because he was pressured into doing so? In essence, this syndicate has what a government lacks. It has a sense of basic mutual care for its members as well as a sense of loyalty. It's not tyranny because views
and actions aren't being enforced upon anyone. They are given a CHOICE. The people join by CHOICE instead of being placed in a position they never wanted to be in. Techno isn't forcing his views on anyone. Like with Tommy and blowing up L'manburg, he's giving them a choice.
You have to understand, Techno is a very loyal character. He values loyalty because he's been betrayed and used for his abilities so many times to the point he keeps the standard to himself NOT to treat other people like that. He is loyal to people who prove they either have a
common interest to him or genuinely see him as a friend. All he expects is to be treated as a person back rather than an object that can be used for other's self benefits.

Think about it, if everyone was to unite against Dream with no one set in charge but just a group of people
banding together with the common interest of destroying Dream, what is the difference then between the two?
