It’s really scary to me how many people think that the move to buy Greenland is an incoherent idea. It just shows that people are not paying attention to the right things in our era.
Like if you care about climate change, global power dynamics, imperialism, the ecological sacrifice of the tropics, upcoming world wars, indigenous rights etc etc...
Look at how few bases the US has in the Arctic. Greenland and Alaska really.
Please understand that over the next few decades the North Pole will increasingly be the center of all maps
When I talk about arctic issues it feels like it is the least response I get from Twitter and it makes me wonder if people think this is just totally nutty. But I promise it is coherently connected to everything else I write about
Greenland is prime real estate for bad climate change scenarios. And in the meantime has minerals, fresh water etc. it will be the Italian peninsula of the hot earth Arctic.
Greenland also holds 10% of the world’s freshwater at a time when water is becoming serious commodity
And these are inhabited regions. Standing with indigenous people is key. http://cornellilj.org/arctic-sovereignty-part-ii-the-arctics-indigenous-people-and-sovereignty/
