Are there any decent rock songs about the Civil War where the Union are the heroes?
People saying The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down. Am I missing something? I love the song, but aren't the Union the heroes in it to the same extent they are in Gone With the Wind?
I was thinking about this Tom Petty Southern Accents tour (staging that he later regretted) and how many generations have been raised on sympathetic depictions of the Confederacy in their popular culture.
I kinda wonder if the Yankees were as fulsomely celebrated in literature, movies and song as the allies were in WWII pop culture if we'd be in this current mess quite as deeply.
