Right now we're watching Living In #Hackney @hackneycouncil scrutiny meeting closely. Great to hear that the council is saying that they recognise the importance of our parks and green spaces.
🌳🌳🌳
Green space has been especially vital this year.

1/
The council says it's going to plant canopy trees, which is great but takes a long time to mature. So as was illustrated tragically in the last year we must:
🌳 Protect older trees
🌱 Ensure planting is managed by experts so trees don’t die.
🐛 Prioritise biodiversity
2/
The council is right to introduce a nature recovery plan, however we need to protect the biodiveristy we have. For example the biodiversity loss in Lea Marshes last year. @SaveLeaMarshes

We're positive about improving green space on estates. It's vitally
important that this is resident led. We must also protect green space on estates and wherever possible not build on them.
8/
It's great that @hackneycouncil is finally beginning to reduce its use of toxic glyphosate which is a potential cancer risk and could damage biodiversity. ☢️ We've campaigned on this for years alongside @NonToxicHackney etc. It must end now!
