When I worked at McDonalds it was during a summer where there was like no good air conditioning. I saw multiple of my coworkers fainting or running to the bathroom to puke. We were expected to keep working no matter what. I witnessed one of my work friends knees locking.
I got yelled at multiple times by customers and would leave 10-12 hour shifts of work with my feet bleeding and aching. There were times where I cut my hands in the sink. And I still have burn marks from times where the fry basket and oil hit my arms.
It’s not easy, and it is a job that is deserving of a living wage. I watched grown people supporting their families who would go from the night shift at McDonalds and have to wake up within an hour to go to their next job. Don’t twist it $15 STILL isn’t enough but, it’s a start.
