I’d like my white mutuals and followers to take a look at your chirpty circles and see how many Black people you tweet with on a daily basis. If you’re surrounding yourself, whether irl or online, with mostly white people, ask yourself why
You claim to be anti-racist, but you only talk to and exchange ideas with white people all day long. Why? If you live in a location that has a large white population, you especially need to be making an effort to follow and interact with more Black people online.
And I’m not just talking about following Black celebrities, Black politicians, Black entertainers, Black academics... I’m talking about following everyday Black people whose voices get minimized and silenced in a sea of online white supremacy
“But I don’t really have anything in common with Black people. I don’t know what we could talk about”

Do you know how much white nonsense comes across my TL everyday?? I don’t understand half the shit y’all be talking about. That doesn’t mean I should dismiss you altogether
The issue isn’t that you don’t understand Black people, the issue is you try to insert yourself into Black circles, try to force your views and opinions on Black people, instead of just idk....listening and supporting?
Anti-racism is actionable. You have to consciously say and do all you can to identify, analyze, and then destroy racist beliefs and systems. This has to be consistently done so your anti-racism becomes as unconscious as your racism once was.
