Even for unpaid work, if you provide any sort of service, Denmark, Croatia and Cyprus will make you apply for a work permit. If you or your company are being paid, you will almost always need a work permit. Some may shrug....
The new post-Brexit visa system (which is the inevitable result of ending freedom of movement) will kill the export side of many UK consulting, education and other service businesses. And as FT readers says, probably damage quite a few manufacturing businesses too.
