“Black Lives Matter” is not the same message as “Stop the Steal,” unless the implication is that both are true statements (or, perhaps worse, equally false statements) https://twitter.com/EWErickson/status/1350477085542928389
Demanding accountability from the police and demonstrating against police violence isn’t the same as saying that law enforcement as a whole is corrupt. However, conservatives and the police want to conflate the two. Why is that?
“Stop the Steal” is rooted in a lie. It’s also FAR MORE anti-democratic an assertion than Black Lives Matter.
There are people at Black Lives Matter rallies who support police reform and those who actively promote “defunding” the police. There is a wide range of beliefs regarding how to end state-sanctioned violence against POC.
There are probably people at the “Stop the Steal” rally who wanted to peacefully overturn an election ... but that’s not a positive. Attending the rally meant believing the Big Lie.
