Happy Martin Luther King Jr. Day. I think this is the perfect time to share more about my new role as Race & Culture reporter for @ABC7Chicago.
Right now, race is front and center in the national discourse and Chicago has always set the tone for many of these discussions. I look forward to helping you better understand the city’s complicated history with race and how it impacts the present.
This past year after the pandemic’s disproportionate impact on our Black and Brown communities and the Black Lives Matter protests, I felt called to switch gears in my reporting to help Chicagoans better understand each other and their unique experiences.
I know so many of you are working to address inequities within our city. I will tell your stories. I know some of you are yearning to be an ally but don’t know where to start or where you fit in. I will help you find your place.
Beyond that I’m very excited to highlight and celebrate our city’s rich diversity. I love Chicago. I’m honored to have this responsibility. My prayer is that my reporting bridges divides in our city.
