Celebrating the life of Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. means picking up his torch and carrying it further. We must recommit ourselves to fighting for what Rev. King fought for:
A fair economy for all: Rev. King believed that we should not “take necessities from the many to give luxuries to the few.”
Healthcare for all: Rev. King knew that no American should be without healthcare. He believed that “of all the forms of inequality, injustice in healthcare is the most shocking and inhumane.”
Living wages for all: Rev. King believed that “all labor has dignity.” He knew that no person who worked should be in poverty.
Jobs for all: No person desiring work should struggle to find employment. Rev. fought for “federal program of public works, retraining, and jobs for all—so that none, white or black, will have cause to feel threatened.”
