(1) Today we honor the life and legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. Today, and all other days, we should remember to embrace diversity and equality in everything that we do. We should honor Martin Luther King Jr. in our words and our actions.
(2) Actions like, judging people based on what’s in their hearts, not based on the color of their skin. MLK said, “The time is always right to do right.” Clearly, the last four years have brought the cause of social justice to a screeching halt.
(3) We have a very long road ahead of us to reach the place he wanted us to be, but I know we can get there. We have to keep marching towards justice. Black lives matter isn’t an online trend for you to hashtag in your bio section to look progressive.
(4) It’s a movement protesting against incidents of police brutality and all racially motivated violence against black people. Racism is real. White supremacy is real. White privilege is real.
(5) While speaking in Montgomery, Alabama in 1957, Dr. King said, “Life’s most persistent and urgent question is: What are you doing for others?” White people must use their white privilege to fight white supremacy.
(6) So, if you’re white and privileged, ask yourself today, what are you doing for others?
