Today, I do not encourage Black people, or anyone for the matter, to pick up a broom and have a cleaning day to commemorate MLK day.
It is pointless, performative and doesn’t truly does not serve his legacy.
Below are productive resources that, in my opinion, truly honor him..

Today I encourage people to watch his speeches, study the works and the mission of The Poor People’s Campaign, read “A Letter from Birmingham” and learn about the reason why he came to Memphis that ultimately led up to his assassination.
I also encourage people to get more information/join their local/statewide Poor People’s Campaign as they continue Dr. King’s mission or tap into any local grassroots in your area that emphasis his focus area: racism, poverty, capitalism, the war economy, income inequality, etc.
Don’t just quote Dr. King today and go against his works and his words, tomorrow. If you truly want to honor him, join the movement to continue his works, continue to study his teachings and implement all that he taught in your daily life.
