Last night someone took it upon themselves to set queer content creator Matthew Camp’s house on fire. Don’t ever tell me that homophobia “isn’t a problem” in 2021. Hate crimes like this are something gay people will always be at risk for, forever. Support: https://gofund.me/779b7476
The arsonist is caught on camera, linked on the gofundme. This was a blatantly homophobic attack. LGBTQ+ people’s reality is one of constant fear that anyone, anytime, could decide to inflict violence upon them… (1/2)
(2/3)or even attempt to murder them solely because of their sexual orientation or gender identity. Imagine a stranger stalking you out with the goal of burning you alive inside your home simply because of who you’re attracted to. That’s what this boils down to. No matter how…
I know at first I said 2/3 and then 3/3 but I could go on about this forever. The collective increase in acceptance society has of LGBTQ+ people is great, but it will never be fully utopian, and anyone who thinks our plight is over or anything along those lines is woefully naive.
