On January 15, 2020, China issued its first definition of a "confirmed case" of covid-19, which stipulated that the case must meet "clinical manifestations" (AKA symptoms) including fever; pneumonia; and reduced or normal white blood cell count, or reduced lymphocyte count.

WHO has rewritten its criteria for a confirmed case of covid-19, bringing them more in line w/ China's criteria.
