"Charming" Kevin McCarthy met with birther activists in his office in 2013 and accused three Jewish people--Soros, Steyer and Bloomberg--of trying to "buy" the midterms in 2018. https://twitter.com/nytopinion/status/1351008943187881986
Given McCarthy’s misleading stories about the “deli” that he operated out of his aunt and uncle’s frozen yogurt store, it is interested that this is still up on his website bio.
Here's a @washingtonpost fact check about his deli. "Yet there are no ownership or sales records that can be located for a Kevin O’s Deli in Bakersfield, according to the California Department of Tax and Fee Administration." https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/fact-checker/wp/2018/02/02/kevin-mccarthys-stint-as-a-small-business-entrepreneur/
His website says he learned that, "Sacramento and Washington are obstacles, not aids, to success. The redundant and frivolous rules along with tedious paperwork and overburdening taxes compelled Kevin to enter public service." Is there a record of this "paperwork"?
This reminds me of Kristi Noem's misleading story about the "estate tax." Makes me wonder whether other prominent GOP figures traced their political origin stories to exaggerated or fictionalized government oppression? https://www.huffpost.com/entry/the-real-story-behind-kristi-noems-death-tax-ordeal_n_5a3c1874e4b06d1621b2fe00
