Honestly nothing surprises me anymore. https://twitter.com/ChronicleNUFC/status/1351069312404971520
It is difficult to see how Steve Bruce can go on as manager of #NUFC. I originally saw him as one of football's good guys, & I think a lot of us knew from the start that he is was of his depth but he works hard and gives his all. Thats all you can ask for from a football coach
Then came the comments that started to divide the fans and the club - "everyone is a football manager", "blah blah", "histrionics" etc. Steve Bruce has actually turned the fans against him with some very silly comments that he hasn't learned from and continues to make #NUFC
I think if Steve Bruce had used some common sense in his interviews, he wouldnt even need his media pals to defend him. I am sure he would have got an easier ride if he was humble, less provoking and came across as a more professional manager.
There is a reason why Rafa was so highly regarded at #NUFC, and a big part of that was how he treated the fans and understood the club. For a man who claims to love #NUFC, Steve Bruce has done a lot to demonstrate how little he knows about the club, its fans and its culture.
I have seen worse managers at Newcastle who I have supported more because you cant fault effort and passion. But you can fault someone who clearly doesnt learn from mistakes, attacks his own supporters and throws out the same tired lines to explain their shortcomings.
At this stage of his career, it is difficult to see how Steve Bruce can evolve or improve. If he hasn't learned by now, he never will.
Steve Bruce has clearly lost the dressing room, and the fans. He has a talented group of players who he has actually made look worse through a lack of direction, poor coaching and baffling tactical decisions.
Fair play to Bruce, he took the job when nobody would touch it. He deserves credit for that, but now he has been found out and it is time to hire a manager who can bring professionalism, stability and understanding of #NUFC and its culture.
