West Bengal CM #MamataBanerjee has announced that she will contest from Nandigram in the upcoming assembly election. Sitting MLA from Nandigram is Suvendu Adhikari who has switched sides and is now with BJP.

I must say it is a very bold move by Didi, and I see a clear imprint of Prashant Kishore in this sudden announcement as elections are still several months away.

It is like challenging the Adhikari family in their home-turf to show them their place.

Nandigram I falls under Tamluk Lok sabha constituency and is part of Purba Medinipur district.

Although Muslims comprise 14.59% of the total population in Purba Medinipur, in Nandigram I, they are a little over 34% Muslims while about 14.59% of the population are SC here.

Bengal is turning into an interesting field for election watchers.
