At #HUMEA lab we analyzed respiration gases, ICG and muscle activities of @rowingfinn during three rowing styles on rowing ergometer to find out most economic style. The case with Kuopion alueen urheiluakatemia

Styles were 1: front-loaded, 2: back-loaded and 3: high rate. Earlier styles have been studied by @DecentRowing with @rowingfinn : https://fb.watch/351Se_nUkb/
These results from respiration gas analysis and ICG suggest that style 1 is less economical than 2 and 3.

The muscle activities measured using @delsysinc wireless EMG sensors reveal that in front-loaded style muscles activate rapidly at early stroke. Rectus femoris muscle shows notable difference between the styles. The styles were perfomed. with drag factor 121 of the ergometer.
In addition, trials using lower and higheg drag factor of @concept2 row ergometer with rowing style 3 were performed. EMG patterns were repeated similarly in all three drag factors.
