From Chelsea and Arsenal to Barcelona, Juventus and Real Madrid, top clubs and their fans are still refusing to accept the dearth of quality footballers.. Expecting that the name of the club and signing popular names will translate to success.
In the past, the vast majority of the popular names and big money signings were almost always difference makers. Even squad players were real quality. Now, 8 out of 10 big money/headlines signings fail to do much, if anything at all.
Before, all the top clubs had like three to five world class players at once. Quality players everywhere. United once had Ronaldo, Tevez, Rooney, Berbatov, Nani at the same time ffs. Even when Madrid and Barca were studded.
Now? Lmao. After Messi, Ronaldo jogs on, who are you really scared of? Hazard has already retired. Neymar isn't all that anymore. Mbappe? I am more afraid of Heu Ming Son than him lmao. All the conventional big clubs are complaining of player quality.. Or blaming managers.
That Barcelona counter attack with Dembele that ended up at De Jong's feet was so hilarious. Let's not talk about the ridiculous defenders they have. A few years ago, they'd have more quality players for the amount spent.
Clubs will gradually be forced to learn their lessons. What works now is to find a manager that knows what is required in terms of playing personnel, taking both the club's and league's peculiarities into consideration and buying perfect fits.
If you keep going for the popular names, you'll keep wasting money from year to year while regressing. Can't wait to see Barcelona without Messi. Going to be far worse than Madrid without Ronaldo.
Not a coincidence that we started seeing different UCL winners with Ronaldo out of the way and Messi ageing. We'll have even more different UCL winners now.. In England, clubs like Leicester and maybe Everton and Southampton will legit scatter the supposed top 6 permanently soon.
