South Africa breached one million Covid-19 cases three weeks ago, on 27 Dec 2020. In these past three weeks we have seen 33% of all cases recorded in SA since the start of the pandemic.

So after spreading for ten months, cases took only 3 weeks to increase by a third.
In the same time it took for SA cases to increase by 33%, deaths attributed to Covid-19 have increased by 39%, from 26735 to 37105. This is one vicious virus.
