Currently the military is guarding numerous gov buildings in downtown Sac& 100+ cops are guarding others.
On J20,the day the far-rights figurehead steps down,we march.
We march because we know whats coming & this is the moment to push back. Whats been developing the last 4 yrs..
..had culminated on 1/6 in DC.This told us whats developed, whats here and what needs to be fought back against before it develops further.
Its important to recognize that what happened in DC on 1/6 is not an aberration.Right-wing violence has always been a threat: we have seen..
..this in our city and beyond. On 11/7/2020 Proud Boys rode around Midtown and Downtown in the back of a pickup truck searching for counter protesters to attack. https://twitter.com/IGD_News/status/1326170247829786627
On 11/21/2020, dozens of Proud Boys & other right-wing demonstrators swarm Cesar Chavez park, attacking our unhoused neighbors & anyone they perceived as " Antifa"
Outside of Sacramento:
On 12/12/2020 in DC the Proud Boys tore down & burned multiple BLM banners from multiples Black churches. This act was definitely not just destroying what belong to those churches. It hearkened back to cross burnings of the KKK.
Allowing these movements any space at all has its consequences.
8/3/2019 in El Paso, a gunman, emboldened by the anti-immigrant & white supremacist policies highlighted by the Trump administration, opened fire while seeking to kill Mexican individuals. He ended up killing 23 & ..
We have reached a point now where these movements & individuals have been emboldened,& activated.
Although Wednesday brings a new president, the fundamental, racist character of the U.S is no different which is exactly what drives these far-right movements.
It will take all of us together at once to push them back in the name of community defense & antifascist action.
This is why we march. This is why we fight.
So, join us Wednesday, January 20th - we meet at Fremont park at 10am -& then we push forward.
