There is a discipline to making profit that will always help a company grow for years, it is about reducing your costs and making more revenue. Don't go into competition with people who are already making more revenue than you if you don't have a cost advantage over them.
Even Amazon still does everything to save costs. I learned the hard way "twice" by not keeping an eye on it and lost a lot of money. People are always available to help spend money and few are there to help make it.
Cost centers are simply people who spend money or take money without bringing any income. Having that as a small business is a death sentence. EVERYONE at the early stage MUST be involved in building and generating income. No sacred cows or highly paid "consultants".
Profit is the only signal that a market is worth it. In the end, it is all about markets. If you can't extract meaningful value from a market early, then there is also no guarantee that you will do so long-term. Everyone must work to earn profit. It is the only real growth signal
