For those keeping track, we now have footage of the following at the Capitol insurrection:

• Proud Boys praying before the attack

• A man leading masses in prayer as they took the Capitol scaffolding

• A group praying in the Rotunda

• A group praying in the Senate chamber

This in additional to TONS of visual religious expressions in the crowd, reports of a woman praying for “the evil of Congress to be brought to an end” as McConnell staffers hide, and a clip that sounds like shofars being blown as the insurrection began on the Capitol’s East side.

Never mind footage of a woman declaring she comes “in the name of Jesus” as she storms the Capitol, or others who invoked explicit Christian nationalism when describing their role in the attack later.

I’m just saying: the religious elements here are legion.
