Remember running out of space when you sent texts or paying per text charges. Twitter was developed as an innovation to texting in 2006, limited to 140 characters just like SMS texts, but without the costs. Characters increased to 280 in 2017. #EXSM5510
You need to know the lingo such as Hast tags, Handles, Twitter (profile, name, threads and feed), Tweets, Retweets, Retweets with a quote, Mentions, User Generated Content (UCG), Promoted, Gifs and Bots. Knowing these terms will increase your Twitter abilities greatly. #EXSM5510
There are 6 parts to setting up a Twitter profile suggested by @KristiSkebo including a username, Twitter handle, header image, profile picture, bio, and pinned tweet. Update these (as I intend) and you will look pro. #EXSM5510
Twitter is HUGE. @kyrstiegreen double checked in 2019 and confirmed that Twitter had 330 Million monthly active users with 63% between the ages of 35 to 65. Of the 6.88 million users in Canada, males use the platform 56% to females %44. #EXSM5510
If you want to use Twitter for business, I suggest four strategies to increase engagement. 1) a solid hashtag game, 2) utilizing media (photo, video, gifs) *especially UGC, 3) timing of your tweets, 4) Twitter threads are superior to hyperlinking. #EXSM5510
Or, pay to promote an advertisement. But have a strategy, know your target audience, what you want them to do in your customer journey and use analytics available to you to inform and adjust. #EXSM5510
Twitter has given its users the ability to share nearly anything, true or false. Live on location tweeting as primary news is a fantastic media evolution. Problem is, fake news greatly influences people, and nefarious characters utilize bots for exponential impact. #EXSM5510
Bots. Stupid automated bots imitating humans online with borderless reach. A good estimate would be over 30+ million active Twitter accounts are bots. Some bots are good, some are bad. Some work for companies, some for fascist governments looking to undermine democracy. #EXSM5510
