just saw an image on reddit comparing eren's rage in season one to gabi's rage in todays episode and man, as the owl said, history does repeat itself
gabi is literally eren across the ocean. the same idealistic and naive child enraged by the mayhem that's engulfed everyone around her and in the same way that eren saw the titans as the complete embodiment of evil, you can't knock gabi for viewing the eldians of paradis island
in the same exact manner. the writing in this show is genius. perspective changes everything. if the show started off through gabis pov our biases would be completely and obviously shifted. how the oppressed can become the oppressors so instantly and how the cyclic nature of war
almost always never has any sides. the moral complexity of this show is brilliant. nothings black and white, everyones simply just traversing in their own narrow grey. there's no real sides to the conflict as it damns everyone on both sides. didn't expect aot to turn out this way
when we first found out annie, reiner and bertolt were the female, armoured and colossal titans it was almost bewildering. how tf can mass slaughter be justified *in their eyes* but now we understand what drove them no matter how morally dubious the actions were.
and in the same manner you'd wonder how one would ever justify sasha straight sniping the fuck out of that guard with no remorse but their drive is perfectly illustrated. everything is so beautifully ugly in this show now. my level of investment in this fictional show is a rarity
