I'm growing incredibly exhausted with the no of Scottish Tory MSPs and Cllrs who are only too happy to finger wag and dish out ridicule to those who just want to vote for a better tomorrow, where the needs and wants of the people of Scotland form the basis of our policy. (...)
The disdain directed towards people in Scotland who reject the hard Conservative views and policies of Tory politicians in WM, and who believe a better tomorrow comes from a Scotland with full control (...)
over the decisions it wishes to take in the interest of the people of Scotland and the direction we want to travel as a country. This whole Brexit debacle has highlighted just how different politics in Scotland and England is. (...)
Every day we see the realities of a Tory Govt hell bent on punishing Scotland for daring to see our future outside the confines of the Union and for looking towards Europe for stability and the formation of a modern, vibrant Scotland very much European in its outlook. (...)
Wanting to walk away from the Union doesn't mean we are anti-union, it means we are anti *this* Union in this configuration. We see a better future outside this partnership and wish to exercise our democratic right to have that desire recorded and acted upon. (...)
In 2014 we had every man and their dog falling over themselves to reassure Scotland they loved us. We ❀ you Scotland!, Lead the Union, don't leave the Union!, We would be lost without you! Yada yada. We had promises of near Federalism, we had promises (...)
of the most powerful Parliament in the world. We were told we would be equal parties in a family of countries. We had Baroness Davidson telling us the only way to protect our rights as EU citizens was to emphatically vote No. (...)
The vow and all this emphatic reassurance of Scotland's new place in the Union convinced enough people to vote No and to remain within the UK. Fast forward to the EU referendum when we found out what we said doesn't matter. Despite this promised new place in the family (...)
of nations, we discovered that every eligible person in Scotland could vote to Remain in the EU and it would not matter a jot. Because the population in much of England was whipped into a Brexit frenzy and bought the lies being told to them. The sunlit uplands awaited them. (...)
We discovered very quickly that Scotland's Parliament would not have any part in making decisions and Brexit would be designed by WM, they'd set aside convention to legislate directly in areas which were within the legislative competence of the Scottish Parliament. (...)
They overrode the objections of the Scottish Parliament and Scotland's elected First Minister. They ran the clock down to the very last minute and then, as in @KirstySNP's words "brought a steaming cup of excrement" to WM and bounced MP's into backing the awful deal. (...)
Scotland isn't simply politically divergent from England, it is on another political planet entirely. Look at how Scotland has voted over the last 20 years and compare that with other constituent countries in the UK. (...)
The number of Scottish Tory politicians who sneeringly attack those in my own party and those of no party affiliation, who simply want the best for Scotland is aggravating. Your being a Tory politician doesn't make you any better than any one else. (...)
I'd actually say all it highlights is your ability or willingness to support policies crafted in Westminster which rob the most vulnerable of support and assistance when they most need it. It shows you are happy to avert your eyes to the real shame of your own party (...)
having to be forced by a premiership footballer to feed vulnerable children, introducing cruel immigration policies, dehumanising and treating disabled and chronically ill people appallingly, failing WASPI women and examining ways to dismantle the Human Rights Act. (...)
When I go to bed at night I can close my eyes and find peace that I have worked to help improve people's lives and to help reduce and dismantle the barriers and impediment your own party has assembled in their path.
