A lot of people who don't live in San Francisco or no longer live in San Francisco definitely talk about San Francisco a lot.
I'm not sure this phenomenon exists for many other cities in the country.

I of course love this city and will do whatever I can to fight for it to be better for all our residents.
San Francisco obviously captures people's imaginations and shapes culture in ways that are really powerful, potentially good or bad depending on your perspective, and that's unusual. What happens here matters, clearly.
And by the way: isn't it such a beautiful day today in our beautiful city, a city with wonderful, creative, dynamic, resilient people, a city that also has serious challenges. It's a gorgeous day today, 72 degrees in January, we love our city.
And also, it's all good, talk about SF all you want! It's a fascinating, impactful, trendsetting, dynamic, powerful place. It captures the imagination and its impacts clearly linger.
People who were displaced from SF also have a longstanding connection to this city and of course understandably have a deep interest and perspective on what happens here. 100%.
