Cyberbullying and it's serious effects; a thread

a rt would be appreciated because people on this platform clearly don't understand the weight of their words.
What's cyberbullying or cybervictimization?

It refers to any behavior performed through electronic or digital media by individuals or groups that repeatedly communicates hostile or aggressive messages intended to inflict harm or discomfort on others.
The motivation behind cyberbullying, as reported by both cyberbullies and non-bullies, included a lack of confidence or the desire to feel better about themselves, a desire for control, finding it entertaining and retaliation.
It intrigued me as to how people use this as a medium of entertainment. we often see people on twitter get "ratioed" and dragged like anything and many just join in because they're bored and want some fun.
Difference between traditional bullying and cyberbullying:

Compared to traditional bullying, cyberbullying is unique in that it reaches an unlimited audience with increased exposure across time and space, preserves words and images in a more permanent state, and lacks ++
supervision. Further, perpetrators of cyberbullying do not see the faces of their targets, and subsequently may not understand the full consequences of their actions, thereby decreasing important feelings of personal accountability.
According to a research conducted, 93% of cyber victims reported negative effects, with the majority of victims reporting feelings of sadness, hopelessness, and powerlessness. Cyberbullying has also been conceptualized as a stressor. It is infact more stressful than traditional +
bullying due to the anonymity associated with it. The fact that someone can say anything they want from behind a screen without even revealing their identity triggers feelings of paranoia and hopelessness. Moreover, youth who were targets of cyberbullying reported increased ++
feelings of embarrassment, hurt, self-blame, and fear. Past work has shown that adolescents who were victimized via cyberbullying were more likely to lose trust in others, experience increased social anxiety, and decreased levels of self-esteem.
targets of cyberbullying were almost twice as likely to have attempted suicide compared to their uninvolved peers. according to research, adolescents who were harassed online were more likely to use alcohol, drugs, and carry a weapon at school.
perpetrators of cyberbullying were more likely to rationalize their destructive behaviors by minimizing the impact they had on others. for example, they were more likely to believe that their bullying behavior was not that harsh and that it did not bother their victims that much.
So how do we prevent this?

It's very important to discuss your problems with an elder but unfortunately a lot of adolescents may be reluctant to tell adults about their experiences related to cyberbullying may be that youth tend to tend to think that cyberbullying is not a ++
serious issue, and thus, they do not need help.

All in all, cyberbullying is a serious issue, the severity of which is still not recognized properly. Cyberbullying causes death as well as many psychological problems and therefore needs to be curtailed.
