1. I see this is making the rounds. Read the article..

“We are not alarmed by this,” Steinar Madsen, medical director with the agency, told Norwegian broadcaster NRK. “It is quite clear that these vaccines have very little risk, with a small exception for the frailest patients.” https://twitter.com/EricRWeinstein/status/1350907284575043584
2. ... and the official statement from Statens legemiddelverk (Norwegian Medicines Agency):
https://legemiddelverket.no/nyheter/covid-19-vaccination-associated-with-deaths-in-elderly-people-who-are-frail

"In Norway, an average of 400 people die each week in nursing homes and long-term care facilities."
3. I think there's a problem with using the word "safe" to describe vaccines because when people hear "safe" they may think "without risk" or "without adverse effects".
4. The deaths in Norway haven't been fully investigated yet so we don't yet know if these were all due to an adverse reactions to the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine. Maybe yes, but maybe some had other health problems and would have died even if they had not received the vaccine.
5. But if it comes out that some of these deaths are the outcome of receiving the vaccine that's going to be cold comfort to their families.
6. It's unfortunate if people are making decisions about whether to get the #COVIDVaccine or not based on fearmongering or misinformation.

If you or your loved ones have serious health problems, get your info from the health authority in your country and discuss with your drs.
6. I have a history of severe anaphylaxis due to a food allergy so initially it wasn't clear if that would exclude me from eligibility to receive the COVID vaccine.

At the moment it does not. I will have 30 minutes of monitoring instead of 15 minutes. https://twitter.com/keikoinboston/status/1340811585225428992
7. There's currently no info on what my options will be for vaccine sites. My primary care doctor's office is located in an office building a mile from the nearest emergency room.
8. Since I had to be hospitalized overnight the last time I had severe anaphylaxis I'm going to try to choose one that's at a hospital in case I have a severe reaction.
9. That's a risk I have to take because I have many risk factors for a worse case of COVID-19 should I get it. I'm more likely to survive severe anaphylaxis than COVID-19.
10. But I don't think continuing to hammer the point that the vaccine is "safe" addresses people's real or imagined fears.
