one of my first jobs was a waitress at a dine-in pizza hut where i made $4.25 an hour “plus tips” — which i rarely actually got, but i was 16 and didn’t stand up for myself. i had to stay hours after my shift ended — “just because you’re scheduled off at 8, doesn’t mean you leave
at 8.” today, i run a small business, 50+ hour weeks, running embroidery machines, illustrating new designs, managing social media, payroll, scheduling, inventory, graphic design, website design, customer service, photography and more. my job at pizza hut was harder on me. NO ONE
should have to work these grueling jobs just to barely scrape by. a $7.25 minimum wage is an absolute disgrace. if you’re against raising the minimum wage, you need a serious reality check on why you’re pitting other working class people against each other.
