My parents were scheduled for their #CovidVaccine yesterday @MountSinaiNYC but turned away as they ran out of vax. I’ve spent hours on slow web pages w no luck and am currently on hold (currently on minute 62). Instead of just being a complainer, how can we fix this? A thread...
What are the problems?
http://1.Do we not have enough actual vials of vaccine? Can the govt utilize the the defense production act to start manufacturing at a fast clip?

2.The roll out logistics are too sloppy? Can there be a more centralized and protocolized plan from top to bottom of the chain to ensure more seamless process from vax production to administration instead of this piece meal free for all?
3.We don’t have enough staff or venues? What if each borough utilized their arenas, concert halls, public school gymnasiums, and armories as the main sites and nursing/ med / PA / Pharm students are deployed to help w injection administration?
4.The websites and call centers are overrun. If we have enough large scale sites, can they publicly post in real time how many doses they have left at each site and folks can have the option of going to those sites with vax left. (With social distancing in place of course).
This is not about blame, I just want solutions. It saddens me how the first real weapon we have against the most deadly pandemic this country has seen in 100 years is not being utilized in a better way. I want better for my city. For my patients. For my mom and for my dad.
Oh and to add insult to injury, after waiting on hold for one hour and 33 minutes, it rang and then I was promptly hung up on. Wonderful.
