Here is the answer, for free. Please take it: Every year we are charged with managing inventory for companies.

What the hell does that have to do with vaccine administration scheduling and fulfillment?

Everything.

It is why OWS called us so much. Before ignoring us.
What seems like a simple problem is very complex and has a solution which many find counterintuitive: We have something in very high demand. We need to get it to the right people. How do we do this effectively under a time constraint (before the game)?
We manage over a billion dollars every year. Companies spend $600 billion on the inventory yet, prior to working with a pro, 40% goes in the trash can totally unused despite their many sincere efforts. Why?

Why are vaccines unused?

They all do the same thing. And it is wrong
They require anyone interested to meet overly detailed characteristics and shut out anyone else from even signing up or showing up. Everybody thinks they're different/unique to this problem and overestimates their abilities (looking right at you Salesforce).

They want control
So what they do? They limit the requestor pool. Always.

It makes sense.

They make people fill out 12 page forms (Hi New York!). They limit who can see the requests and when. And what happens? Tickets go in the trash. Just like vaccines are sitting in clinics while people die
The answer is the opposite: Everyone can sign up.

Everyone.

Right away.

The assumption this leads to false belief of getting a vax is false. And proven false. But nobody believes us - at first.

Employees and customers appreciate the transparency and having any chance >0
When done right, we have a ready list of people available to step in last minute if needed.

Last minute cancel or no show? No problem, we have qualified people ready to go.

Waste drops by more than half in a matter of 30 days. Every. Single. Time.
Israel has done this. If someone is late or misses an appointment, they jab the next willing person.

They famously stuck a pizza delivery guy walking by a clinic. As they should. Everyone has a chance, even when remote.

What happens?

Inventory stops spoiling.

People gain trust in the system

The most at risk have an expedited path to inoculation and we have tools to manage the inventory which have been around at scale for FORTY YEARS. Why are people building new tools with no experience?
Ticketmaster, Live Nation are right when they say they could help immensely here AND that they have tried.

We got calls too. They (OWS) weren't interested in effectiveness. Their vendors were interested in money. Nothing more.

Teddy famously said "The best thing you can do is the right thing. Next best is the wrong thing, and the worst is nothing"

This is a sprint, not a marathon. Our leadership & OWS has bungled this horribly and here we are - with a populous ready to get the vaccine and unable to.
It's always the same story: We want to be overly cautious to being 'fair.'

Nowhere, ever, is taking the path to inoculating the fewest amount of people, which is what we're doing, 'fair' to anyone.
We don't know much about anything. What we know:

Our scientists are geniuses.

Pharma did their job.

And we know, as well as anyone in the world, how to take a highly sought after item and get it out, efficiently, under considerably time constraints.
There is your answer @gavinnewsom and @NYGovCuomo
