I just watched as a guy with a new Porsche accidentally left his car in reverse while getting gas.
The car drove itself, backward, onto Pacific Coast Highway where it bounced around between lanes, along the side of the road and across traffic.

The guy was putting in his credit card across from me when I saw it moving, slowly.
I thought it was in neutral so I said "hey man your car is moving."
He didn't hear me. Then it started picking up speed and curved down the driveway.
I started yelling " your car!!"

There I am, waving my arms at him saying "YOUR CAR YOUR CAR!" And the dude just smiled at me.
I think he thought I was complimenting him?
I pointed with both hands "YOUR CAR!!"
He turns, sees it's gone and for a moment is frozen.

Then he sees where it is, perpendicular to traffic in the northbound lanes and it's still going. He takes off after it.
Traffic at the cross road is stopped. Bikers heard me yelling and start chasing it with him.

At this point the porsche is moving south in the southbound lanes, backward, when it starts hitting things along the side of the road.
It's like a pin ball.
Thank God there were no pedestrians there!
Finally it pings off something and is moving backward across the lanes.

Everyone going north is slamming on their horns as it finally crosses the center divider and comes to rest. Not sure if it hit one of the cars in the turn lane or just the concrete but it stopped and he (or someone else) was able to jump into it.
The truly wild part of this story is that, after the guy got it back into a legal parking spot along PCH, my son and I drove past it and I swear to God I didn't see one scratch on it.
