1) MSM seems to be noticing that the backlash against Parler etc. is largely a disinformation campaign aimed at obscuring the more major role of mainstream social networks in fostering white supremacism, the Capitol insurrection, etc. https://www.salon.com/2021/01/16/despite-parler-backlash-facebook-played-huge-role-in-fueling-capitol-riot-watchdogs-say/
2) And now FB is blocking organization of DC events on their platform, up thru inauguration, https://www.theverge.com/2021/1/15/22233871/facebook-blocking-events-white-house-us-state-capitols-inauguration-day ... this may or may not be a good move by FB in context, but it's certainly not the role a mega-corp should be playing in our society ...
3) So to reiterate. We need a decentralized processing infrastructure ( http://NuNet.io ) with decentralized identity and payment management and messaging control ( http://Cardano.io ) and decentralized AI tools ( http://SingularityNET.io ) -- and all OSS @IOHK_Charles
4) With a properly decentralized infrastructure, if a bunch of alt-right white supremacist f**kt**ds or a bunch of mentally ossified hardline Marxists want to make a subnetwork where they share their obnoxious BS among themselves, so be it... this should be their free right
5) Each of us should have our own AI-driven navigator (a filter, but not only that) which directs us to the media and subnetworks etc. that we want --
6) -- but not based on super-shallow interpretations of what we want (i.e. not based on the products we buy or the key words in the stuff we're currently reading), based on a richer understanding of all the layers of our being
7) The various AI-driven navigators will need to rely on a sophisticated multidimensional reputation system, and a lot of funky AI will be needed to police against reputation-system fraud --
8) -- but very key is that the AI policing should be on the level of squashing reputation-system fraud, not squashing content itself --
9) If some subnetwork contains people using their own hardware to discuss among themselves how to kill some other people, then there is potentially a law-enforcement problem, to be handled by the usual methods ... some undercover agents will join the network etc. ...
10) Of course there are potential weaknesses to this approach -- the possibility for subnetworks of anonymous people plotting cybercrimes in a way that doesn't give openings for law enforcement to intervene --
11) -- but honestly the quasi-insurrectionist doofuses breaking into the Capitol etc. recently are not operating on such a high level of sophistication...
12) It's not that a decentralized social network infrastructure will immediately solve all problems of online social networks and their impact on society. But it will give a far more ethical, intelilgent and workable context in which to work toward solving them.
