This is why I'm opposed to Renata Hesse for DOJ Antitrust. She represents an entire generation of weak enforcement.
Also, she shut down the Microsoft breakup remedy to gain favor in the incoming Bush Administration. https://twitter.com/99legalproblems/status/1350721649956564993?s=20

Her opinion of Google's anticompetitive conduct is that Google might not actually be doing anything wrong because Google might just be perpetually better than all other companies.

This is like appointing someone who doesn't think drugs are bad as the head of the DEA.
She's also done work for some of the largest pharmaceutical companies, Merck, Amgen, and Novartis, just in the last couple years.

Why would anyone expect this person to crack down on Big Pharma to lower drug prices?
This puts DOJ Antitrust's failure in perspective.

There are individual plaintiff law firms that have brought more non-merger antirust cases in recent years than the Department of Justice.

The DOJ's enforcement of non-merger antitrust misconduct, especially Section 2, is absolutely pathetic.
I know lots of lawyers who have filed more Sherman Act Section 2 cases than the Department of Justice Antitrust Division in recent years.

Absolutely pathetic. This is Renata Hesse's life's work.
The DOJ Antitrust Division under Renata Hesse (2012-17) failed to bring injunctions or cases for known antitrust violations for at least $88 BILLION in Part D and Medicaid spending from 2015-19.

Instead, she spent the last couple years working for the DEFENDANTS in these cases.
