Horrors of Biafra

The only reason history was removed from Nigerian school curriculum was to prevent the younger generation from knowing the horrors that Igbos went through during the Biafran war.

The Biafran story might not the only reason but surly it's one o the reasons.
The war broke out on 6 July 1967 and ended on 15 January 1970.

The Head State of Nigeria, Yakubu Gowon boasted that the war will last for three months but the wars stretched for almost three years.

The ingenuity of the Igbos came to full force as they had to manufacture the...
weapons they used themselves. We had no arms and ammunition and at some point picked guns of enemies and from fallen heroes to continue the fight.

The Biafran engineers developed a lethal weapon they called the Ojukwu bucket or Ogbunigwe to attack the Nigerian soldiers. With...
the scarce resources at their disposal, the Engineers developed the lethal weapon that took down many Nigerian soldiers.

Biafra no doubt was a nightmare to the Nigerian government.

Left with no other option to defeat Biafra, all Ojukwu could do was to impose food blockades....
and in no time, the children of Biafra were hit with terrible kwashiorkor.

Availability of food was null. The pictures of the children of Biafra who were struck with kwashiorkor shocked the World.

Carl Gustof von Rosen, Swedish pilot came to the aide of Biafran as the super...
pilot flew into Biafra on many occasions evading the fighter planes of the Nigerian pilots in the air.

Carl Gustof von Rosen made use of a makeshift airport in Uli. The Airport was built in the middle of a forest and l won't forget the shock of one of the pilots with Rosen.....
when mid air they were told to land and the middle of the forest cake bright lights. It doesn't take more than 5 minutes for the plane to land and unload and the light goes off to prevent the enemies from bombing the place.

The environment was covered with green grasses for....
camouflage.

It was estimated that 3M people lost their lives and it was estimated that each family lot atleast one person.

50+ after the war, we won't forget how Gowon starved children just to get Ojukwu on his knees.

50 years after, Nigeria still imports arms and ammunition..
we can build them ourselves since Biafrans did it with scarce resources.

50 years after, we won't forget how Murtala Mohammed massacred the Asaba men. Imagine seeing the man who gruesomely murdered your father on a currency note as a national hero?

50 years after, Igboland....
have progressed more than any other region in Nigeria. The same people that were given 20 pounds used it judiciously and today Igboland never looked like a place a bloody was fought in 50 years ago.

Today, Gowon is transversing Nigeria with bible disguising as a saint.
Ozo agaghi eme.

We won't forget.

We won't forget the horrors our ancestors went through during the Biafran war.
