1. If your child is feeling isolation, that’s on you (parent/guardian) -

If the adults would wear masks, limit exposure behavior (bars, restaurants, parties) and create safe pods of friends/family , the children could do small get togethers, or meet at the parks...

Additionally, while not perfect, FaceTime/video chat has been a decent substitute in our house. Friends can chat, see each other, play barbies or other games together, or even play a multiplayer game together online.

Yes, it’s more screen time, but it’s quality time

If you want someone to blame for schools moving to at home virtual instruction, blame the people still out there NOT wearing masks, going to bars, and eating at restaurants that contribute to community spread.

3/
Schools, like any competent business, need to care about their employees health and safety.

Converting to at home virtual instruction is not what most educational professionals want. They want to be in person, even with the mitigation measures which disrupt learning.

4/
In my district, the union rep has been the most vocal advocate for in person learning, because in person represents the most effective education methods, but the risk of the safety of the teachers was too great with community spread so high.

Talk about a distraction and disruption to learning.

One day your in class, the next day your parents are telling you they got a phone call that you have to stay home and are required to get another nasal swab Covid test.
By no other action than showing up to school.

Entire grade levels are forced home by one family

7/
So as easy as it is to blame the Union, or #RedForEd, take a long hard look in the mirror and reflect on your own families choices to help mitigate the spread, to help the schools stay open.

What are you doing to help the schools re-open in person learning to all kids?

Have you registered on the @AZDHS website to get yourself in the system for when your group becomes eligible for the shots?

Are you wearing a mask? Not like a mask to get into target, then you let it hang under your chin or nose, like really wear a mask the whole time?

9/
Are you using curbside pick up instead of going in?

Have you had the restaurant food you love so much delivered?

Are you making time for your kids to FaceTime/video chat with their friends?

Are you going on walks (with masks in hand in case you cross paths with someone)
