It isn't the planning of recorded lessons that take longer, it is all the associated tasks. It is the formatting. Lessons then need to be uploaded the virtual platform and assigned to various classes. For some the files need to be converted before they can be uploaded.
This is time consuming. On top of this you have teachers with vastly different internet speeds. You may have other members of the household who are also using bandwidth. On top of that you have many novices and this is still a learning curve.
Online platforms are not necessarily the most intuitive and learning the different tricks can take a little while. Lots of teachers are also operating on laptops. For me personally, everything takes twice as long on a laptop and I much prefer desktops for computer work
Remote teaching is a different beast and teachers want to do the best possible job. What might take others a few minutes may take others longer.
