pg 43: You probably think the lifestyle you have is the practical one, & it is easier to leave things as is. On the other hand, if one chooses a new lifestyle, no one can predict what might happen to the new self. It will be hard to see ahead & life will be filled w/ anxiety.
...When we try to change our lifestyles, we put great courage to the test. There is the anxiety generated by changing, and the disappointment attendant to not changing.
Adlerian psychology is a psychology of courage. Your unhappiness can-not be blamed on your past or your environment. You just lack courage. One might say you are lacking in the courage to be happy.
pg 47: "No matter what has occurred in your life to this point, it should have no bearing at all on how you live from now on." That you, living in the here and now, are the one who determines your own life.
