Defensive cover for the dangerous Preston transition. Good position, hadn’t over committed as City attack (pic1). Then his junior cross country attributes comes into its own as he chases down the right wing attack (pic2), eventually forcing the player inside and slowing him down
Physicality in the aerial challenge, dumping the PNE player on his arse and out of the game. We’ve missed that in recent weeks.
Gets slightly caught in no-man’s land in (pic1) as Hughes can pass to Whiteman or Johnson. But his recovery and physicality (again) leaves City-nemesis Johnson a frustrated figure (pic2). City were physical with Johnson yesterday and he got no joy at all.
More pressure from Preston’s throw-ins that they are strong at creating space from. Vyner puts heavy pressure of Brown (pic1) who with nowhere to go passes it out of play (pic2)
A loose ball in the centre circle, Martin battling away. Vyner anticipates where the ball might end up and is starting to shape towards the ball and Sinclair (pic1). He then muscles Sinclair out of possession (pic2).
In August I wrote a piece about our loanees last season and thought he’d had “one loan too many”, that being at Aberdeen last season. Was he ready last season? In my opinion, yes. But in “Tinman” (our loans manager) we trust! The hard work is paying off.
