I have just discovered that prescriptive linguistic bullshit makes me angry really really fast.

Language is amazing. Humans are creative. Language flexes and changes and evolves and that's awesome.

The correct usage is the one that communicates what you want it to effectively.
Part of this is disliking being corrected, but a lot of it is knowing how these "rules" are used against marginalized dialects.

No, you're just racist
But even without that - even if we let different dialects have different rules - it's basically an externally imposed stranglehold on what ought to be a living, breathing thing. That offends me.
I don't mind at all if someone says "this is standard usage" or "this is usage according to X style."

I hate "this is absolutely correct."
