#Chapter1 : The Beginning

I’m sure you all have thought atleast once in your lifetime that how this human race started. Followers of science will say that it happened because of evolution & will give you Darwin’s theory.

But darwin never said that man descended from the monkey, nor did he even invent evolution. So, how it all started?

Well, our scriptures give a clarity on this. It all started with the Manu. If you are regular reader of my writings, you should be aware that

Manu is just a title which keep passing from one to another with change of manvantara.
Vishnu Purana, Vishnu Purana, Book 1, Chapter 7 give details about the birth of 1st Manu -

“Lord Brahma divided himself into two parts. Male part is Svayambhuva Manu and female part is Shatarupa.
Then Brahmā created himself the Manu Svāyambhuva, born of, and identical with, his original self, for the protection of created beings; and

the female portion of himself he constituted Śatarūpā, whom austerity purified from the sin (of forbidden nuptials), and whom the divine Manu Svāyambhuva took to wife. “

We are currently living in the 7th Manvantara of the Shwetavaraha Kalpa, and

our Manu is Surya's son Vaivasvata Manu, i.e. Shraddhadeva, as described in the Srimad Bhagavatam:
“The present Manu, who is named Śrāddhadeva, is the son of Vivasvān, the predominating deity on the sun. Śrāddhadeva is the 7th Manu”

Shraddhadeva Manu with his wife Shraddha, had 10 sons, among which ikshvaku was the eldest. And it is believed that ikshvaku was given the whole to rule and that’s why we say, “samgra vishwa par humara ka hi rajya tha”.
