MethodologyThe metrics making up our analysis are race/ethnicity, gender, age, sexual orientation, regional origin, and education.
This analysis is based on nominees and appointees as of December 15, and so it will be updated regularly.

Racial/ethnic diversity Based on our analysis of the 48 people who had been named as of December 15, Biden's Cabinet and White House staff are made up of at least 50% people of color.

Gender diversity Biden is set to break records in female representation. Of the 19 members in the Cabinet who were nominated at the time of our analysis, 10 were women.

Ivy League vs. other collegesThe Biden-Harris ticket will be the first winning ticket without an Ivy League degree between the president and the vice president since 1976.
About half the people in our analysis had Ivy League degrees.
