I’d rather get paid $25 to do physical work than force others into poverty to encourage people to “get an education” that’s gonna be useless, put them in debt, and have them working jobs that have no real purpose. Can we please kill the idea higher education = better pay? https://twitter.com/tulipbreaths/status/1350605500270964740
My favorite jobs have paid between $4/hr (internship) and $10/hr. They were the most skilled jobs I’ve had, people’s lives were in my hands everyday, & they were very physically and mentally demanding. The two reasons I didn’t continue in that field was the stress and the money
But the stress probably would have been worth it if I’d been paid a livable wage
ALSO, higher ed doesn’t mean higher pay. You can literally look at universities % of grads that moved from low socioeconomic standing to mid/high socioeconomic standing, for my uni only 15% of students moved up two or more income quintiles. The medium income at age 32 is $52,300
Higher ed isn’t out here making millionaires. It’s not even out here helping people make very good money. You can argue $52,300 is a lot of money, but it’s realistically not, esp when you’re going into $25,000 of debt for it.
College is no longer a good answer. Stop making up reasons just cause you hate poor people. Ok I’m done.
