Why Health care workers first and not politicians is a frequent question asked . Let it be clear some politicians have taken part in the trials for starters. Now when launching a vaccine Health care workers are the highest risk group literally walking into the fire every day
I eat at night - do not eat in the morning or drink water as I may elicit a gastrocolic reflex needing me to come out and re don PPE. I do not eat in the hospital & come back after work to have my meal. Literally having burning urine due to dehydration & haveto drink 2 Liters 1/n
But you can set that aside - if we get infected in the second surger(which should hit somewhere from now to March as per forecasts based on behaviour in India and other countries ) who will man the hospitals if HCW's are infected ? So we need to vaccinate the HCW's 2/n
and all essential services first. Now we can allow people with the highest chance of dying ie those above 50 and below 50 with comorbidities and then others. So politicians can be very much vaccinated after this. There are 3 crore HCW's and essential staff. 29 Crore high risk 3/n
to die population and these have to be vaccinated. I expect some more vaccines to be available by that time and also private sales and procurement so things will be better as things chug along. 4/n
Another reason is HCW;'s are used to vaccinations - we take Hepatitis B Flu vaccine Tetanus etc regularly and know what to expect and we are able to recognize adverse events rapidly & report so true adverse event capture on large scale will be better.5/n
Politicians are high profile and also attract attention . Adverse events will and shall happen and the rationale of vaccination is that the adverse events are less than natural infection related complications. 1 high profile adverse event will attract extraordinary attention 6/n
This adverse publicity is unwarranted and will have a negative effect on the vaccination campaign. I ask all those who have issues-look at the forearm/arm and see if you have a small pox vaccination scar- if you havent be thankful to those who took it to eliminate it if you have7
then be thankful you got it and protect yourself and others. Vaccination is not about "I" but about "Us" so everyone get vaccinated - do not get involved in petty politics . 8/n
Ask people with knowledge doubts and not try to learn swimming by Google or if u think u can do surgery by seeing a youtube video and do not become self made vaccination and medical experts. Medicine is an art as well as science.Not everyone can sculpt a Chennakeshava Shilabalika
If you think you can sculpt that by looking at Google instructions God be with you but then most cannot - similarly we sit and train for decades and vaccine experts have toiled day and night to keep us safe. SEC is composed of eminent experts whom we are trusting our lives 9/n
