The more I read about Jesus, the more I realise that he was neither a right wing or left wing religious or political leader. He was never an extremist but a moderate for his time.
When the extremist wanted to stone to death the woman caught in the act of adultery conveniently..
When the extremist wanted to stone to death the woman caught in the act of adultery conveniently..
..leaving the man she committed adultery with, it was Jesus who came to her rescue by pricking their conscience with his "let he who has no sin cast the first stone". When he encountered the woman at the well of Samaria, it was Jesus who broke ethnic divide of Jews not relating..
...with Samaritans to engage this woman and save her. It was Jesus that broke religious code to invite a tax collector (Matthew) to be part of his disciples, and through him converted many tax collectors including Zacchaeus. An act that earn him the title "the friend of sinners".
It was Jesus who defended his disciples for plucking grains to eat during the Sabbath because they're hungry in defiance to the religious order of the day reminding them that their forefather (David) did a similar thing in the temple when his companions where hungry and in need.
It was Jesus who cautioned the young man who wanted his brother to split the inheritance with him that "life doesn't consist in an abundance of riches". It was Jesus who broke that fake macho code that "men don't cry", when he showed emotions and wept publicly at Lazarus grave.
I could site many more stories of Jesus showing us examples in moderation of words and act. But I will like to end with the admonition of Paul to the Philippians in Philippians 4:5 (KJV): "Let your moderation be known unto all men.".
