"Socialism" emerged in response to "capitalism" - as a movement to improve the rights of workers. Early socialists fought to end child labor and instituted the 5 day work week (early capitalists were perfectly happy to use slaves & failing that, work people 24/7 with few breaks).
Americans tend to imply that "Christianity" = "Capitalism". Nothing could be further from the truth.

Actual life is a lot more complex than that.

"Socialism" and "Social Democracy" is not the same thing as "Communism". Communism is a totalitarian ideology.
I don't believe that socialist ideology is 100% wrong, and laissez faire capitalism is 100% correct.

Roosevelt injected a lot of socialism to save the US during the Great Depression - and right wing economists haven't been able to explain what else he should have done.
To bring it home to Christians in Nigeria;

Joseph in the Bible managed the famine in Egypt with a combination of "big government" and "socialism".

So what's my point? Be ideologically flexible, learn to accommodate more than one idea in your head.

Stop listening to Americans.
