Two cents on the Hübner situation based on what we know, having had a day to digest:
- Hübner apologised, so something unacceptable was said. We don't know exactly what.
- Hübner apologised, so he regretted whatever he said and recognised it wasn't ok.

- Amiri accepted and wants the matter closed. If the abuse was racial, there's no way the matter can just be resolved like that.
- Tah claimed racial abuse post-match, later said he didn't hear it himself. It's possible someone did and he was repeating what he'd been told.

- There are protocols that players at this level are very aware of. Players increasingly aggravated in the last 15 mins or so and some seen talking to officials. Reports of any racial abuse will be highlighted in the referee's report to the DFB. Not clear yet if this the case
- Ruhnert's comments were idiotic . Club made a blanket statement, that was enough until specifics are known
- Some reports claim Bayer have told Union there was no racist comment. Unconfirmed.
- Bayer quick to tweet Amiri's apology acceptance. Strange move if racism suspected.

- Only Amiri and Hübner or audio evidence can clarify 100% what was actually said. Everything else is just speculation.
- Social media reaction shown the worst of both sides: competitive condemnation vs head-in-sand, tribal denial of the possiblity it could be racism

- Beyond Hübner and Amiri, nobody (clubs, fans, media, officials) should pass judgement on the specifics of the incident until facts are clarified.
- If allegations proven correct, club has to take the lead with their response. No skirting around the issue

- If allegations proven incorrect, Tah has been incredibly irresponsible with his interview comments.

The crux of all this? We just don't know for sure yet what happened. Until we do there is room for nuance, balance and reasoned assessment.
